I rent a 3 year old home built by Big Street. It's a 'spec-home', basic level construction, not custom. Laminate counter tops, stainless sink, that kind of thing. I have no idea what the 'margin' was for this build, but corners seem to have been cut. The basic construction quality is average, but attention to detail is not good. Though the roof seems well isulated, areas around doors and windows are cold, as are the walls. Wall thickness is 6", possiby 8. Light switch layout is a bit strange, as well. Some rooms have the switches near the door, yet the switch box for the master bedroom is nearly 2 feet from the door. A bit of a reach and not typical in my experience. I would not expect to see 'nail pops' in a newer home ceiling, but this place has them. We are having a new home built next yeat and removed BS from our list of considered contractors as a result of living in this place for over a year. Working with big street was a breeze. We were even no longer in Alaska. Matt helped us out every step of the way and was very pleasant to work with. We have worked with them before and we will always use big street in the future!! Had a water damage in the lower floor. Matt and his team were very professional and responsive both with us and the insurance company. work quality is excellent and ahead of schedule. will recommend to anyone. I had BIg Street Construction build me a 30x30 shop and I was having a hard open of 1 July--- the middle of June came and I was a little worried, but the hard work, dedication, and quality of work was out of this world. I decided to once again use BSC to outfit a 3 bedroom apartment above my garage and they nailed it--- they went above and beyond with detail, Brian and his team are top knotch--- highly recommended above anyone else in Fairbanks/ North Pole! This company is the worst in Fairbanks! a worker lit a cigarette off of my wood stove INSIDE my house, on the job! Untrustworthy and childish
