Our family favorite for summer time swimming and BBQs. Love to fish and roast some hot dogs and marshmallows. The views are gorgeous and we definitely love the beach like feel. I would recommend anyone who wants to relax, this is the place. Family friendly, nice resources and maintained beaches. Bathrooms aren't maintained perfectly, but it's better than "peeing in the pool" (or worse). There is a nice long "running/bicycle" path with Porta John at the community parking area outside the park. I called from anchorage to see if I could reserve a spot for early next morning and told no reservations...I arrived in Fairbanks at 6am drove through whole campground for about an hour...found a spot and a couple hours later a few workers drove thru and said it was ok to set up and I could go pay at 12 when they open....I set up went and sat at front from 11:30am-12:30 and nobody showed so I picked my husband up from work and came back. We paid for our spot and started cooking our dinner when a couple workers came and told us we had to move because a family reserved our spot and the one across yesterday. Someone was in the spot across from us and had a ticket to leave today and left this morning and there was no slip in our spot. I was told a family was in an uproar and we had to move. It was myself and my husband and our 3 young children and our 15 yr old brother...didn't seem to mean anything to them. Apparently they were able to reserve and there family inconvenience was more tragic than ours after spending hours setting all up and having our dinner literally on the fire...they were disgustingly rude and had the worste hateful attitude. I have never been treated so terrible in my life. No accommodation whatsoever except they packed our fire in a bucket for us....I asked for managements number and was told they will tell me the same thing. Then after I questioned the man he ignored me then told my husband "thank u for cooperating". Ruined our Father's Day trip!!! Good place for kids and reasonable size to practice boat safety and set sail Always a pleasant camping experience. Sometimes a crazy adventure!
